Discover medieval caves and their historical uses at La Vallee Troglodytique des Goupillieres. These caves feature three farms dug into the stone with wells, bakers' ovens, cattle sheds, a grain silo, and an underground refuge. Let your children's imaginations run free with reproductions of a cabin, fortress, and a witch’s house. Then go inside the enclosed garden filled with plants to make a butterfly's paradise. Dine at The Troglodyte Gourmand serving tartines, pancakes, drinks, and homemade ice cream. Guided tours are only in French, but printed booklets in English describe the caves that were dug out by peasant farmers and builders during the Middle Ages. • The cave houses are in good condition and put in value. The game closes and life outside is insufficient.

  • A pretty cool site for kids that allows d imariner the life of the peasants at the time used the tools lack of comfort

  • This place is awesome. We got there early and the owner showed up from nowhere and opened up for us. He spoke enough English, and was very cheerful. He also would explain stuff to us as he saw us wondering the property. Only down fall is the mosquitos!!!!!!! Good luck
  • I love the history of our hard-working ancestors. Those which I would have no doubt belongs. I found there the indispensable link. In the heart of the Châteaux of the Loire and the "noble people" attending them. It was during a discovery hike that I was organizing for friends that I discovered this site put in value by a passionate. And what passion! He updated and restored a troglo Hamlet as it has been for centuries, until the beginning of the 20th. To this end, it only uses local resources as have been the occupants of this valley. It regained the time tools, how to use it, questioned historians for not to betray the memory of people who have lived there. Mr Hat! It is simply moving. Initially, I was looking to take my friends to a defensive underground, I found it there, superbly delivered to date, but I also found a piece of our humanity. People of Touraine or visiting, don't miss to visit this place, it is our personal heritage that is there. Thank you Mr.

  • Dear admission for what there is to see, four rooms carved into the tufa and little more, follow the guide even though only French, to understand the history of the site and then spend some time. There were three, but none of us liked it.
