Pont d'Avignon, Avignon

3.5
#2 of 81 in Things to do in Avignon
Pont d'Avignon was built in the late 12th century, and was originally 900 m (2,950 ft) long, with arches larger than any other Roman bridge of that era. Although the bridge has been rebuilt many times, it has gradually lost arches since the first time it was damaged in a siege, in 1226. Today, only four of the original 22 arches remain. Our Avignon family vacation planner makes visiting Pont d'Avignon and other Avignon attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Magnificent bridge, especially overnight. Place in history and ride for the whole family. Paid access.

Go your way it's just a bridge. This is of no interest unless you are a big fan of the rhyme. Stench in the toilet and all this for € 5!

The Pont Saint-Benezet is pretty cool, however, as an unfinished work end up not leading anywhere. The view of the castle of the popes, the walls and the River make it a breathtaking view of Avignon

If you want to get on the bridge, you have to be there earlier. The song has followed me since childhood and it was nice to be close - properly visiting would have required a little more planning. Be prepared for the roads being a lot slower - especially in the later afternoon.

Beautiful to look at, but the admission fee was just too high in my opinion, and didn't add anything for me. You are better off sitting on the shore looking at it.

The view fron the bridge is stunning. Well worth the trip. You can access the wall and gardens fron across the road.

Good value if you get the joint ticket with the Palais de Papes. Definitely something that you should do whilst visiting avignon and the free audioguide is also very good. The views are also very good. Can be very windy though so make sure you take off hats etc before going on.

Nice to have done one of the main Avignon attractions but not worth paying to go on the bridge!
