#9 of 16 in Sightseeing in Avignon
Government Building Tourist Spot
A huge and majestic building that has been witness to some of the most intriguing revolutions of all times Hôtel de Ville is always a great place to visit. It fills you with a better insight on the French culture and dynamics. The pre-planned and carefully performed renovation service has given the city hall of Paris a nice facelift. The art-deco murals, rare paintings by talented and famous painters etc can also be of huge interest to those who are inclined towards art items. Hôtel de Ville is the seat of local administration of Paris. • A beautiful building, as most French hotels des villes are, situated in the picturesque Place de l'Horloge. An impressive three storey façade, replete with pillars.  more »
  • Nothing spécial but the war mémorial is on the wall and there are displays of art or community interests from time to time.  more »
  • Well it might be confusing to anyone who is not French - all civic centres are called hotel D'Ville, so expect to find one in most major towns. They are not accommodation centres! But often house fant...  more »

  • If you go to Avignon, be sure to take a moment to step off the bustling main square into the beautiful and historic city hall, Hotel de Ville
  • Most tourists don't go in here, but if you sneak in, it's an impressive building with some interesting memorials inside
  • Poor organization, gives no news contrary to what he said

  • Very very very disappointed... not very clean city... Too... looks like Marseille... Or are the real french Avignon... not friendly traders not smiling... Doctors aren't here for the sick tourists or it takes 1 day and a half... as medicines to wait 1 day... no local french producers... of course Jean Jaurès taxi drivers are crooks... As everywhere--a race that should cost between 5 and 7 euros costs you 12 e... with a speed of 3-4 km h... dog poop... No good bakeries... Street of the Republic very very very noisy day and night... Why is she not pedestrian..? No place quiet day and night... And l Pop Inn hostel... Huge disappointment... Noisy... Smokers... no kitchen... no TV... looks like a hotel with no heat or human conversation... In short. Very bad stay... is that because it is the holidays or not... I do not know... I'll come back off holiday to confirm... J came in October 2007 or 2008.C was awesome... I had really loved... And la👎👎👎 😶😶😶 😞😞😞 😬 😠 😞 👊👊👊

  • Like everywhere else in France I guess: administration slow, very slow, and not to the page (no direct lines, must go through the standard, no Exchange by mail etc..) Any approach takes time. Times not suitable for people who work.
