Climb the 370 steps of Escalier Monumental, and enjoy the surrounding gardens and terraces. The 35 m high (115 ft) staircase was built in 1863 with local limestone. In the center stands a statue of Charles de Batz, better known as the Comte d'Artagnan--captain of the King's Musketeers that Alexandre Dumas made famous in his tale, "The 3 Musketeers."
