  • 18 km from Tours, the castle is surrounded by a park of 43ha. We have been warmly received by the count of L'espinay, owner (open June to September every day from 9 to 12 h & 14-18 h rate = 5 euros) & we were able to taste the wines listed (incidentally very good) in the Hachette wine guide. The castle is built in the 16th to replace that of the 13th. His sponsor is Emery plot, master of the requests from the Queen Mother Louise of Savoy. In 1521, it becomes the property of the Binet family in 1531. Since 1989, it is the count & Countess of the L'espinay who continues the work of restoration. The Winery is ancestral as the vines are present for almost 3 centuries. The Castle consists of a main building of the sixteenth. To the South of the courtyard is dated from the 15th. This Court access door is flanked by 2 towers, one of which that lunch is converted into a chapel. To the Northwest, a seigneurial loft complete. Inside, its rotating scale is in excellent condition. On the ground floor of the Commons, we find the stables which could receive up to 7 horses & the winery, in business for at least 250 years. Worth visiting for the quietness of the place, its simple beauty, & warm hospitality.

  • We stopped here as part of a day trip to the Loire Valley from Paris. It's a lovely chateau (well, what you can see from the outside), and the wine was decent and cheap. Our tour included lunch, which...  more »
  • Courteous, friendly staff. But the Castle doesn't offer much to visit. We have to go for the wine production. Several wines are available for tasting and purchase is more than reasonable price. If interested in a bike ride along the expensive, we pay you but rather very used bikes that hold the road.

  • Excellent visit. This family winery gives a personal touch set in a magical place. P.S. Angelique is still available.
  • Château de Nitray was the best gem we could've stumbled upon. We were looking for vineyards along our route North, and I found this place and saw the photos and instantly I wanted to be there. The place looks exactly like the photos. The gentleman who greeted us and guided us through the tasting was so personable and nice. I was surprised that the family lives in the castle, what a life! It gives the place a warm spirit. The wines we tasted were Brut, Sauvignon, Cabernet (Les Meilleures), and Côt. There's also a sweet wine called Chenin that's super tasty. The prices were extremely reasonable, I left with 6 bottles (as many as I can bring back to the States) and 2 souvenirs, all for a bit less than 50€. I would absolutely come here again. There's really nothing not to like. P.S. I secretly picked a tiny pear from the big tree in the garden. It, too, was delicious.
  • Lovely family residence. Interesting wines to taste. Very amiable owners. No food but can buy wines. Dry Sav Blanc recommended.
  • For a good wine and cheese experience. They have a big hall for partys, weddings and dinners.
  • very French tour, beautiful experience
