Cairn Du Petit Mont, Arzon

#3 of 8 in Things to do in Arzon
As ancient as the Pyramids of Giza, Cairn Du Petit Mont is a Neolithic structure built to line up with the sun. Erected in three phases, the most ancient cairn dates to 4,500 BCE and the most recent was built around 2,000 BCE. Visit the megalithic architecture and go inside the dolmens to view huge granite blocks with archaic engravings of snakes, axes, signs, and various motifs. You can explore on your own, attend a guided tour in English, or join an educational workshop. Put Cairn Du Petit Mont into our Arzon tour planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

If you need to stretch your legs is a great place. Easy access by car to car parks available at the edge of several hiking trails that allow you to do all of the small mount. Count from 1 to 3 km walk according to your courage. The Cairn itself is remarkable. (Accessible only from 11:00) but we liked for a walk us in the ocean to see dozens of boats leaving the port of Arzon or are returning. Table direction halfway. The routes are very well arrow.

The flight! €7 visit per adult when and more we n could visit only a dolmen since the second we were kindly invited to let the group visit with the guide to pass as a priority. So we were 3 adults + 2 children (5 years old and a 7 month old baby) a have sat in front of the dolmen without being able to go for 20 min (with baby we have of the leave). Why not explain to people without a guide to do the reverse path that borrow by the group to avoid being blocked?

As the appearance of the site worth a visit, as a view proposed us at the top of the Cairn; as the Interior is very poorly highlighted: the rock carvings are poorly lit and are barely visible. It's a shame, sometimes the engraved stones are even not illuminated... Disappointing!
