Cairn Du Petit Mont, Arzon

3.6
#2 of 13 in Things to do in Arzon
As ancient as the Pyramids of Giza, Cairn Du Petit Mont is a Neolithic structure built to line up with the sun. Erected in three phases, the most ancient cairn dates to 4,500 BCE and the most recent was built around 2,000 BCE. Visit the megalithic architecture and go inside the dolmens to view huge granite blocks with archaic engravings of snakes, axes, signs, and various motifs. You can explore on your own, attend a guided tour in English, or join an educational workshop. • You get many points of view from this area. A lot to think about. I guess age matters if you do not follow history. This whole area makes one think about time and love of country.  more »
  • The history of cairn is unique because its history has continued with the last war and the German occupation. And since then...!

  • Everything is there, everything is here: the Gulf (of Morbihan), this small inland sea so well-defined, so well delineated, a horizon dotted with Islands and islets on a blue background, and a walk along the coast for both oxygen and get back into history , to the sources of the Celtic traditions. A promontory which houses a major megalithic site, one of these dolmens there intrigued mi, mi fascinated and envy, to choose from, listen to Alan Stivell or resume an album of Asterix whose adventure around the small mountain remains to write but just to imagine rereading the comments of Caesar when he evokes the naval battle against the Veneti. Great feel, mega tour!

  • Nice Cairn, lovely walk to the monument. Bit small parking
  • Great site. I did not the paid visit by choice but reviews the moaners: if it is paying it not isn't necessarily a choice of these Parisian wicked (fed up with these comments!) but the idea is rather to preserve the place of too many visitors who, by the simp the fact of walk, damaged by the dint of thousands of no.

  • A place occupied from the Neolithic to the second world war. A nice view, but the rooms are small and few prints are preserved. The entry fee is expensive for all.
