  • Located in a magical place steeped in history: the Bastion St Andre to Antibes, is located the Museum of archaeology of Antibes. Employees listening, a warm welcome, but we feel that they are poor, what a disappointment this Museum! Part of the empty windows or under construction, the other dusty party! Our beautiful town of Antibes is so steeped in history, or did this story? A guided tour or we hear about 2 boats found in Marseille. But where did our Roman boat found in 2012 following the excavations carried out by the INRAP (thanks!). This boat has left Antibes for Grenoble and since 2012, not a Word, not an explanation, nothing no information on this wonder updated during construction of the parking lot of the meadow to the fishermen. We see this boat again? And the archaeological museum, why are there no more remains of Antibes, there are Italians, Marseille remains and so little of Antibes, it makes me so sad. During the reconstruction of the national square Bandstand, the INRAP (diagnosis 2015) has updated of the vestiges of the period Hellenistic (IVe - 2nd century BC) of the architectural remains from the Roman period, dated between the first century BCE and the 5th century a.d., embankments of the middle ages and the modern era containing fragments of ceramics, witnesses of craft activities and daily life, or have passed these remains? And they are that small examples among many others beautiful discoveries on Antibes that do we do with our heritage Antibes? Mayor wrote this preface a few years ago: "history of Antibes is before all a gigantic adventure which dates back a long way." True heritage of the municipality, the events that shaped the son of centuries the evolution of Antipolis to Antibes, enrolled in the history of France and Europe... "But where this story is so hidden? Archaeological furniture outsized amounts have been exhumed from the ancient port of Antibes (INRAP), but where did this furniture? And I'd like to add: why are there no guided tours in English, we live together with Sophia Antipolis or over 75 nationalities, one language allows us to understand English, so why are there no effort in Antibes made to make English as a communication tool? I'm going to this beautiful quote from St Exupéry: ' we inherit the land of our ancestors: we borrow it from our children. "

  • Small museum with archaeological excavations of Antibes. Many objects and discover the Antipolis site. Wonderful view of the sea. Discover during a stay in Antibes.

  • 6euro for 4 people to look at ancient artefacts is a bargain (children were free). My son and I are both very much into ancient history and we really enjoyed wandering around this small museum and tak...  more »

  • Quite interesting museum in Antibes. The location is very nice. Great view from the top.
  • Nice!
  • Small Museum (and small price: €3) located in 2 very beautiful vaulted brick rooms. It is a very good introduction to the Greco-Roman world and especially the ancient history of antibes.

  • Very informative, only flat, the second part was in preparation work. However, do us automatically benefit from the half price, since we don't have access to half of the Museum, that is nice!
