Chateau d'Ansouis, Ansouis

4.1
Going back to the birth of Jesus Christ, Chateau d'Ansouis has been in existence for over 2,000 years. It was initially a fortress in the Aigues Valley. The architecture of the castle has soft features. It is surrounded by lush green gardens, terraces and groves. This magnificent castle in the region of Luberon has been renovated to meet the needs of the public. Inside is a well-designed staircase, a series of elegant furniture rooms. It gives the feeling of walking amidst medival era and the Old Regime. The seventeenth century welcomed the new residents of the castle, post all religious and political wars. The Escalis were succeeded by Villeuneuve Ansouis a Aix in 18th century. That is how the castle derives its aristocratic lifestyle. Very interesting tour, guided by the owner of the place, which tells the story of this castle refurnished with beautiful period features wonderfully. The mix of architecture from the middle ages to the eighteenth century is remarkable. The villa on the roof of the Dungeon and its hanging garden are particularly unusual and my unique knowledge in France. The rest of the village is interesting and typical provencal. Tour price is more than reasonable.

Surrounded by nature, North Luberon in Provence with a famous villages are each year from may through August in large numbers of tourists bustling quiet walks and cannot be expected to slowly take the meal. And Andy is a really small village will come here. But for travelers who want to around the villages of Provence in a short period of time, probably not enough. Around the castle is elegant, small restaurants.

The tour of the Castle by the chatelaine, is a privileged moment. Indeed, this castle, inhabited by the owners is maintained with passion and especially chattel. Its history is to discover during a visit of 2 hours approximately. Great views of the village of Ansouis, the surrounding villages and the Luberon.

Elegant southern façade added to a military and medieval fortress. Terraces and gardens around the castle, with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. Lovely furnishings and tapistries ornate the rooms. Located in a small, but beautiful traditional village of Luberon with tiny streets (better, than the most famous in the area, like a mini-Gordes).

Superb view from the terrace over the Valley. From the square of the Church, great place for pic fuck at dusk in the evening.

Is not recommended. Pay €2 for children less than 2 years because and I quote 'they cry and disturb other visitors' sucks. We turned back. Disappointed.
