  • Castle in a wonderful scenery, but inside exposition is rather poor and disappointing, definitely not worth 8 EUR adultes entrance fee. Just about 4 rooms open (if you decide for individual- not guide...  more »
  • I passed by it while I was walking in the old town. Its architecture is nice (not very unique). I could not go inside. However, it is good to see it and take photos there :)  more »

  • We loved it. Reviews on tripadvisor suggested that they didn't like English speakers but we experienced the opposite. When we decided to picnic in the gardens, they were delighted.
  • You have to wait and go round with the next tour guide, can't wander on your own, but it's well worth it. The castle was briefly owned by an eccentric collector in early 1900s, then donated to the Academie Florimontaine (who still own it and probably haven't changed anything much), so it's full of his vast collections of old weapons, eastern curiosities, ceramics, lace, huge Flemish tapestries, some amazing bronze friezes, and... Napoleon's death mask! An Academie guide did our tour, which focusses on the collections; very enthusiastic; it's in French, but a printed English summary for each room is provided. The castle itself is lovely and more coherently developed than the Annecy chateau-museum. You get to see five rooms plus the keep tower. Amazing 14C stone spiral staircase in Nun's Tower with steps and central rail made from single slabs.
  • Very nice view, interesting castle
  • Only possible to view with guide, wich was an hour wait. Insane!
  • Open except Monday and Tuesday. Nice medieval castle with its keep offering a magnificent view on the mountains. Small circuit to do on foot from the castle to the gorges of the proud. 2 or 3 kilometers. Very nice
