  • This is a nice place to visit while walking in the old town of Annecy. Nice architecture (not very unique, but the whole place is amazing :)  more »
  • Built in 1535 as a chapel of the convent of the Cordeliers (Franciscans), its initial modest style was gradually enhanced as a cathedral for the Bishop of Geneva in exile in Annecy during the Protestant Reformation. The external façade is of Italian renaissance style while the inside is late Gothic with its three naves separated by a pilasses, its shallow side chapels, nestled between the foothills and the neoclassical style to bedside polygonal choir. Must enter to admire the beautiful stained glass windows, paintings, statues and bas-relief which many recall the importance of St. Francis de Sales (Bishop of Annecy) in the Foundation of the order of the visitation (nuns devoted to visiting the sick) with Sainte Jeanne de Chantal. This tour allows you to contemplate the great organ (pipe 2000) dating from 1842 located above the main gate as well as desks and carved wooden pulpit. The Saint-Pierre Cathedral is built above one of the many canals of Annecy.

  • Very nice building. There are occasionally auditions or concerts of organ music. The acoustics are really fabulous.
