  • The Catholic Cathedral of Annecy has been classified historical monument by Decree of October 30, 1906.Elle was built by Jacques Rossel before 1526. This church was originally to be an integral part in the convent of Célestins which will be in use in 1530. Its façade was completed in 1535 and the cult spent in 1539 but Célestins are replaced by the Cordeliers. In 1770 the convent will be abolished. Later during the French Revolution, the Church will be transformed into a temple of the goddess of reason and the destroyed tower partially in 1794 will be rebuilt in 1828. This church became a cathedral in 1822. She has a unique façade, dating from 1535, inspired the Renaissance but above all a Roman model. Inside we find a set of Tuscan pilasters. We discover an openwork pediment including a pink still in the Gothic tradition, imitating the upper rose of the South Tower of the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre in Geneva, and due to the same architect. The small Tower on the side choir sway two bells works by the Paccard foundry in Sevrier. Jean Baptiste Pitton, a native of Carouge, small town located at the doors of Geneva in Switzerland, will be the new Bell. Later the Paccard foundry in 1891va sink the biggest Bell in France, the "Savoyarde", a Bumblebee installed at the campanile of the new Basilica of the sacred heart of Montmartre in Paris and offered by Bishop François-Albert Leuillieux, Archbishop of Chambéry. The Cathedral also has a beautiful stained-glass windows and an organ that is not without interest built in 1842 and classified in 1972

  • Very nice building. There are occasionally auditions or concerts of organ music. The acoustics are really fabulous.
