Musee des Beaux-Arts, Angers

4.2
#4 of 8 in Museums in Angers
A stunning example of turn-of-the-century architecture, Musee des Beaux-Arts is complete with a radiant central patio that lights the work of Picasso, Rubens, and Kandinsky. The museum houses 11 of Kandinsky’s influential works, to be exact. After you’ve been inspired by the brushstrokes of days past, then check out the Grand d’Art wing, completed in 2013 by architect Stanton Williams. Don’t leave out the Chapel of the Oratory, which the museum annexed. It’s no longer a place of worship, but it still offers a welcome respite. Most of the paintings are minor but some are worth visiting for lovers. The collection of contemporary art a lot less. We like the place, next to the Tower Saint Aubin.

Remarkably nice staff. Impressive building with nice outside neon art from Francois Morrelet. A good flower painting from Tilburg born artist Gérard van Spaendonck. Small but adorable modern art section.

Night of museums: a lot of people and not much to see a lot of closed rooms and very little clear information at the entrance

A very informative visit that learn us a lot about the history of Maine-et-Loire and Angers. I enjoyed the old cards. Make this accessible Museum in the evening during the walks of King René is a great idea.

The Museum is full of charm. A lot of interesting paintings. A Botticelli, an Ingres, a Corot's big names. But I keep a dazzled remembrance of a portrait by Jacques Émile Blanche d a certain madame Lang (nothing to do with the former Minister) where she has a false air of Kristen Scott Thomas. We finish the visit with the sculptures of the ground floor room. On the way out, don't miss the colorful nana of Nikki she. Then, down the stairs and we can go to the Gallery David D Angers.

It's amazing, the magnitude and variety of his works has overwhelmed me, when we wanted us to really account 2 hours and we ended up eating in the cafeteria (the menu of the day is highly recommended)
