Chateau du Plessis-Bourre, Angers

(190+ reviews on the web)
Castle
Chateau du Plessis-Bourre was a single family home until 2009. This formibable, limestone structure housed the owners of the property for 31 years, the longest an owner’s family lived in the castle since 1473. The family has kept the rooms immaculately furnished, and on your guided tour you’ll notice that the furnishings from the 15th through the 18th centuries have been preserved with tenderness by the descendents. Most of the tales of the castle’s builders include legends of alchemy, dungeons, and sordid  history, but none fail to entertain.

The chateau’s location atop the water makes for an unmissable photo op, so click away. If you’re on the water long enough you may even see a pair of black swan floating towards their nest on the bank. • Very nice Castle in nature, to admire the interior woodwork and painted ceilings. Cross the moat filled with water to access the Castle takes us back in time.

  • "" visited the castle of the "drunk plessis" today by a totally summer weather, very nice... the place is particularly peaceful... a small "end of the world", quite massive Castle is still pretty stylish and is surrounded by deep moats, a park very nature around and quite a small drawbridge that works, well maintained single... (we would have liked to take the little bridge that had collapsed to finish our little loop around the moat... and not retrace our steps! ... maybe she will be restored in the near future we hope...?! ...), finally, "Julia" our guide has a diction perfect and quite slow, which is very valuable when one is listening to the explications.elle was perfect and we developed the information needed has the knowledge of the lieu.nous highly recommend visiting this castle if you do not know yet..! ...

  • This small castle lost in the countryside, surrounded by moats, is a marvel. The guided tour is a real treat. The guide, very friendly and smiling, explained what we wanted to know. She also ran the drawbridge and makes us discover a little unusual objects. Pity that the visit is a bit expensive: €11 per adult, but this is the only downside!

  • The Castle, beautiful is in good enough condition, and something rare, surrounded by beautiful moats full of water! The tour was very interesting, even if the guide seemed a little recite his text at the beginning, the speech became more natural then. Little less for parking at the entrance, quite small, it should not be simple parking during large events!

  • Great tour, little castle with an interesting story, a bucolic place a little lost North of Anjou. Takes less than half a day. To do if your schedule allows.
