is a historic castle situated in the city of Angers, Loire Valley, in the department of Maine-et-Loire. This place has a rich history, and you will greatly appreciate this castle, which was built in the 9th century, for its unique structural design. Further construction in the thirteenth century added to the size of this castle. The castle served as a fortress because of its strategic location, overlooking the River Maine. • Fun to do if you're on Angers and if you like castles and history. In addition, it allows for views of the city.

  • A castle that is really worth a visit. Allow two hours for a "leisurely". We had taken the audioguides, allowing a little more lighting of our visit. They are rather well done overall, a few small inconsistencies at certain times. (1 to 2 is more than enough). The castle is very large, pretty gardens in winter. The ramparts offer a nice view of Angers. On the other hand, we could not access all parts of the Castle, too bad... especially since we have not been warned. To end on a positive note, the tapestry of the apocalypse is impressive by its size! And well explained with audio guides.

  • Beautiful castle in the middle of the city, overlooking the river. The towers and the walls are beautiful, impressive moats. Small slates end harmonious ensemble. Worth the trip.
