Park of the Pagoda of Chanteloup, Amboise

2.1
#12 of 18 in Things to do in Amboise
Park of the Pagoda of Chanteloup is the oldest park in the French Castle of Chanteloup. Note the distinctive Chinese-inspired 44 m (144 ft) high pagoda monument supported by 16 columns with 16 pillars. Each of the seven floors has a dome built in it, and each dome has a narrow staircase that narrows further as you ascend towards the top. Climb the steps to reveal a panorama of the lush Amboise forest and the contours of the Loire Valley. It should be a day trip after the pagoda and the Park in the guidebooks have been touted as. The admission price is way too high for what you get then. The park consists only of a meadow, every city park is beautiful. The pagoda is nice (not for people with a fear of heights!) but the view is not so great now also. We were about two hours by and more than disappointed by the offer.

An unusual discovery in the middle of magnificent forests. From the top of the Tower a superb panorama at 360 °. A gem that wants to survive the passing of time. Peaceful place where the picnic basket is significant in the garden. Pleasant home where there willing to make your pleasant passage.

Incredibly overpriced (10 E!) While this might be a neat tower, your money would be better spent in Amboise. I was able to get a picture over the fence, but that's all I needed. I'm sure the views were great but it was not worth it to me.

Not happened accident and attracted by the lunch we picnicked in a bucolic setting enjoying regional specialists. The home is charming, the best clean toilets. The amazing view of the pagoda is worth seeing and wooden games enjoy the young and old. The value of the basket is perfect however the entrance to the Park is a little expensive. In conclusion a popular stop.

Pretty nice construction, but the price is much too high for what it is a visit. Even maintenance of the column leaves to be desired... And mostly everything suggests that there are remains of the Castle, but in fact there is no trace of it. We can do very pretty pictures of the pagoda from the outside (side parking), free of charge, so it does not classify this visit as a priority in the region.

A timeless place, vestige of a bygone era and a lost area. The pagoda has need of serious restoration and therefore need to visitors. A lot of furniture of the deceased Castle are the Museum of fine arts of towers.

A first approach disappointing in the Japanese garden which has continued with the discovery of the ancient games. No maintenance, the games are aged too stay out, and you have this sense of unease. The tour continues by the pagoda which certainly is a beautiful building, but there also no renovations since 1910... We were 4, but finally one of us ventured to go at the top of the tower. Rotten wooden windows and stairs are not much better. How is it still accessible to the public? And safety here in there? All this for € 30, when comparing with the inputs of the castles of Azay le Rideau or Chenonceau, there is really a feeling was rolling!
