Park of the Pagoda of Chanteloup, Amboise

2.3
Park of the Pagoda of Chanteloup is the oldest park in the French Castle of Chanteloup. Note the distinctive Chinese-inspired 44 m (144 ft) high pagoda monument supported by 16 columns with 16 pillars. Each of the seven floors has a dome built in it, and each dome has a narrow staircase that narrows further as you ascend towards the top. Climb the steps to reveal a panorama of the lush Amboise forest and the contours of the Loire Valley. • Seen from afar as closed (off season) certainly deserves a stop and a tour... This "madness" planted at the end of his driveway surprises in more than one way!

  • Large driveway pedestrian access to the site, very good notes. Mounted to the top of the pagoda, pictures and very nice view. Walk along the pond, Olympian calm, pleasant as sitting in the garden with a cold drink, and always this feeling of quiet, rejuvenating desire.

  • A beautiful amusement park of choice for small and large, a lot of interesting games for children, in this beautiful region named Chanteloup; but the Wolf is probably more; The pagoda is to visit and offers panoramic views.

  • Certainly worth the money for me. Just look at those pictures, It's wonderful!
  • Such a beautiful place to visit.
  • Incredibly overpriced (10 E!) While this might be a neat tower, your money would be better spent in Amboise. I was able to get a picture over the fence, but that's all I needed. I'm sure the views were great but it was not worth it to me.
  • Enchanting place to daydream... lots of space, old games or reproductions-House. A garden well installed and original. A compelling store and baskets - Spades picnic to eat. And of course the unique pagoda! It must be saw.

  • The main remnant of the castle of Chanteloup, totally shaved. There is really nothing since the castle was used as a stone quarry. Chanteloup belonged to the Duke of Choiseul, one of main Ministers of Louis XV and protégé of the Marchioness, which resided at the castle of Ménars near Blois. Choiseul, after his fall from grace and his departure from Versailles, gives a magnificent holiday Chanteloup and his lifestyle is so sumptuous it dies ruined or almost. Chanteloup is also the property of the very famous Chaptal but this last, deeply in debt, will be forced to sell the castle to a demolisher who totally dismantle buildings in two months. The pagoda (and part of the Park sold before this operation) escape the destruction. The pagoda is still standing and can be visited. It offers a beautiful view of the countryside. Superb. Well worth the trip. I very highly recommend.
