Cloitre de la Collegiale Saint Salvy, Albi
(4.3/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
An impressive 900 years old, Cloitre de la Collegiale Saint Salvy combines Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements to form a pleasant patchwork of bricks and stones. In 1270, architect and artist Vidal de Malvezi rebuilt the cloister--the place of his burial. Stone capitals topped by slender columns frame the cloister's garden, where you'll find a cool, peaceful haven. • Very close to the Cathedral of Santa Cecilia is a cloister in the middle of a shopping street in which visit him and do it with peace of mind is a unique sensation. It is a cloister which has a wing. In the middle there is a garden. Highly recommended visit.

  • Lovely Cloister to visit. Take your time, go at the time of the mass. Close to the Sainte Cécile Cathedral and the Toulouse Lautrec museum.

  • When we walk along the shopping centre of Albi is worthwhile to deviate towards the hamlet of Saint-Salvy, and hit go back 800 years ago. Closed by homes stacked around the Church's Gothic Tower (looks like something Moorish) are the remains of the cloister of the collegiate church, which surround a small vegetable garden that embraces a garden of medicinal plants. It is a very curious, confined space (a real cloister) that you isolated from the environment, the cloister only a small part of the French Revolution and the subsequent looting was saved, but it is a lovely space that even on cold or rainy days must be hospitable and welcoming. The construction is composed of remains a Gothic cloister of trapezoidal form, adapted to the land, of capitals allegedly Gothic, surrounded by the houses of the canons that there had been purple, which makes the whole a sort of villa closed within the city, dedicated to Saint-Salvy, Bishop of Albi. Later you can visit the Church and the village (old houses). The set evokes the romantic era with all the legends that these constructions might imagine people in the 19TH century. Hidden space for a break that invites to meditation. Albi is the patrimony of the UNESCO, city with 3 stars in the Michelin Green Guide, is a charming town of Midi, in the Valley and Department of Tarn, with places to visit as the Sainte Cécile Cathedral, cloister of Saint Salvy, palacio de la Berbie and Toulouse-Lautrec museum and the Pont Vieux over the Tarn
