Where to stay in Aix-en-Provence

To explore the old town's shops, markets, and bookstores on foot, stay at one of the city's centrally located hotels. Just a short drive from this busy central area are a selection of luxurious villas, surrounded by formal gardens and private swimming pools. Though rather expensive, these elegant mansions provide a convenient base from which to explore the cultured area surrounding the city. For a cheaper alternative, look for private inns and B&Bs on the edge of town.

  • Some people would say their drinks are pricey but again, being situated in Aix-en-Provence, I think their prices are quite reasonable. Besides, I love the interior!  more »
  • Went there twice in October and really liked it. Book in a bar is a bookstore, which has books in different languages, and a Cafe. The Café offers all kind of Coffee Drinks and a small variety of snac...  more »
  • Book in Bar has lots to offer and it's all good. Vast selection of books in English and you'll find many other languages upstairs. Carefully chosen "Provence" section. Comfortable seating, good coffee...  more »

  • Probably the best place for English books in town. Doubles as a cafe, fresh orange juice and coffee (among other things) for when you want to relax and read a little. The second floor has a massive amount of language learning books, a lot of them for languages not offered elsewhere such as Korean or regional dialects. They have all the biggest teen crazes from Percy Jackson to Twilight, as well as more adult authors such as Terry Brooks or Laurel K Hamilton.
  • Super friendly staff, amazing selection of up to date books (even bilingual books!) and cosy corners to sit, read and enjoy a (cheap) cup of coffee
  • Great, original experience, surrounded by books, good coffee and friendly staff. Pricing reasonable. Seating quite limited.
  • Book in Bar is primarily a bookstore, but there's a café in the back as well. It has books in all sorts of languages, so if you need a new book to read and can't/don't want a french book, this is the place to go!
  • Great book and coffee place, don't miss it!!
