Jardins du Château d'Acquigny, Acquigny

3.6
#5 of 10 in Parks in Eure
Jardins du Château d'Acquigny is an idyllic and romantic site framing a Renaissance chateau built on the theme of love. During your stroll in this romantic park designed in the late 18th century, an ideal walk for nature lovers, you will come across many historical monuments. Discover the natural treasures as well, including serpentine rivers, waterfalls, and rock paths.

These elements merge with elements from the once-French formal garden: remarkable trees, an orangery, a collection of citrus trees, a kitchen garden, an orchard enclosed by canals, and rose brick walls with their espaliered pear trees. Flowers, blooming shrubs for every season, a condiment garden, exotic and rare trees, and vast perspectives also brighten up this park. • Beautiful building but currently a single room on the ground floor can be visited. Nice walk through a very well maintained park. There is very old trees, some of the highest in Europe.

  • We went on a Sunday around 4:30, a young man explains the different places to visit inside the property: gardens, a wing of the Castle because the other is currently being renovated according to him. So, we start with the inside of the Castle except that actually, it is one piece with a few windows, the rest being completely inaccessible. In the end, we go back to the gentleman and, surprise, in fact everything is under renovation! 8 euros for adults (5 adults it is expensive compared to the visit) for a room in the Castle and the gardens. It was enough just to mention it at the entrance before we pay, it would have us avoid our disappointment! The gardens are nice but nothing exceptional.

  • Lovely typical town houses Normandy region. See the Castle and the Park. Beautiful walks. Finally don't leave this place without having entered the restaurant "the cottage". You will not be disappointed. Very delicate staff with customer. Excellent meal. Value for money.

  • On the occasion of the heritage day, disappointment at the entrance which is paying € 7. This day is for them as an opportunity to multiply the entries.
