Turku City Library, Turku
Categories: Libraries, Traveler Resources
Turku City Library includes multiple branches, but its main building represents a historical landmark in the city center. The building is actually a combination of old and new, with the old library from 1903 making up part of the structure while many modern conveniences, shelves, and design have all been added over the years. Locals visit to borrow books and international visitors come to admire the architecture. Inside the library browse exhibits of local artists' photography, paintings, and sculptures. A kids' area offers a play section full of toys and books. Plan your visit to Turku City Library and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Turku vacation route planner.

A local tourism brochure that I read described this as the place that locals had made their second lounge rooms, and I thought they were exaggerating. Not so! Wandering through was a really uplifting ... read more »
Vuosien jälkeen löytyi kirjasto uudelleen lapsen ansiosta. Kirjastokortti ei enää toiminut, mutta oikein ystävällinen henkilökunta hoiti sen hetkessä kuntoon.Over the years, thanks to a child found after the library again. Library card no longer worked, but the staff took care of it in an instant.show original
We were attending a conference here in Turku and were treated to a private tour of this outstanding city library. It is beautiful inside and out, and the staff is fabulous!
Really cool library - you should try it. it´s free you know. Great selection of books, newspapers, magazines, music etc.
The most amazing library in the world - it is large has many facets and is seemingly designed with areas and resources to suit every possible kind of person and o is especially useful to newcomers who need peace and to get information in the way they want it often with the help of friendly helpful staff who are often multilingual. This library, a safe haven, was for me was the first place I was part of and I belonged to as they quickly made me a member and even offered me a design option on the card itself. All information is here. You can get online use the computers or use wifi. It is for me the focal point. They have some fantatsic books here for all my family. Easy checking in and out options. Book crossing. Books in all languages. It is always busy which shows how much of an essential service and much loved place it is. Go in and look around - walk through from old to new just to look at the architecture.
Jukka AaltonenThe library itself is excellent, as well as its staff. But the sites are very difficult to understand. If you put a search for Turku kauupunginkirjasto, and from there all over again the same, a large number of pictures, but no information on how to get the book. If you then click on a main library/Turku, now-if we know that the next right click the network library (which is not the first time, do not know if the goal is to find a specific book). Therefore: the pages clearer so that the key is finding the books. -The title of the page is interesting to this response: "tell us about your experience in the company of Turku City Library". If the library is incorporated?show original
