Built in the 1280s as a military fortress to provide protection to the surrounding area and river, this castle is one of the oldest buildings in Finland that is open to the public. View the imposing symbol of medieval architecture, which has survived centuries of sieges and different reigning groups. • Easy to get to on the number 1 bus. Big and solid structure with some interesting exhibits. Buffet lunch at 11.3 euros was a bargain. The young man giving the tour in English couldn't have made...

  • Firstly, it’s 14 euros to just get in. There was 2 other people there and it was the most boring castle I have ever visited. You can’t just leave you have to follow this one way trail up and down...

  • Great place to get to know about history of the castle and the city. Absolutely love its historic atmosphere and the detailed guidance on the signs. I could easily wandered around designed 'tours' without a guide person. The exhibitions were amazing with lots of items displayed along with interesting notes about them. Just 3-km walk along Aura river to get there from the Cathedral. Highly recommend!!! (Idk why but on the day I got there, there were many families with small kids running around 😂, so probably it can be a nice place for family too)
  • Quite interesting, but with all the 7 floors one can not study all about it all at once. I recommend 3 hours for the visit arrive well prepared with your bottle of water and the castle's guide audio downloaded (if you need it). Tell your socials that sometimes you won't be online, the signal is low in some areas. I gave 1 less star for most of the readings were so low we had to crouch. Have fun there!
  • I underestimated how interesting this visit would be! The perfect mixture of medieval history, restoration, and modern use of the premises. The place is really impressive and the restoration is amazing. Even the places you can rent for events are shown and they are huge and cozy. You must set aside a few hours for this visit however, especially if you are interested in the exhibitions. Would definitely recommend a visit.
  • A brilliant location for the whole family. There was guided tours at certain times, one of which was in English. We decided to just head around ourselves and the descriptions of the items were just the right size to read and enjoy it. About 2 to 3 hours is needed to explore fully.
  • Had a great morning at Turku castle very easy to follow route making sure you do not miss anything and lots of staff around to help. Majority of the room descriptions are in Finnish, Swedish and English. Plenty to do for all age groups our 3 and 5 year old really enjoyed it all. The offer guided tours but is easy enough to do on your own. Is also on the museum card.
