Pyynikki Park and Observation Tower, Tampere

4.5
Admire nature, striking views, and a tasty treat in the famous cafe at Pyynikki Park and Observation Tower. Stroll through the conservation park before heading over to the site's cultural landmark, the observation tower. The first tower was built in this spot in 1868; the current structure was completed in 1929, after destruction from the civil war. Climb to the top of the tower for scenic panoramas, and be sure to visit its cafe, beloved by locals and visitors for its doughnuts, which have been made using the same recipe since the early 20th century. • Pyynikki observatorion Tower is a classic in Tampere. Cafeteria serves excellent locally baked doughnuts, with qualified coffee of course. Summertime place is usually very popular, so reserve time to....  more »
  • An easy and pleasant walk though quiet suburbs and woods to the hilltop tower and viewpoint. Reflect, as you do, that Lenin and Stalin strolled here in 1919, and, reportedly, practiced target...  more »
  • We really enjoyed our visit. Very reasonably priced. We arrived just after sunset and still had a wonderful view. You can take an elevator or the stairs to reach the top of the tower. Make sure you...  more »

  • Excellent spot for architecture, history or nature lovers. There you will taste the best donut in Tampere. The small cafe offers freshly bakes donuts daily. I went at 7pm and the donut was just made!! Friendly staff always and 2€ to go up and see the view of both lakes and whole Tampere.
  • It's easy to get to this place. It's just a walk away from city center and then you are in this huge green area. The view from the top is amazing. The coffee shop's munkki is delicious. Lots of locals enjoy it.
  • Love this place a lot. Great view from the tower and The donuts and coffee that I had were really good:) I felt like I lived in Finland! You should definitely goooo!
  • Nationally famous donuts, and a beautiful view from the top of the tower. You can see lakes surrounding the city and get a real sense of the finnish environment! Budget friendly!
  • The donuts are awesome and coffee too. But feels quite dumb to first pay 5 euros for the coffee and donut and then on top of that, you're required to pay another 2-3 euros to go up to the tower. Even if you use stairs... During the weekdays/low season, there is only rarely someone asking for a ticket though... Toilets free of charge.
