Linnansaari National Park is a national park in the Southern Savonia and Northern Savonia regions of Finland. It lies in the middle of the lake Haukivesi, a part of greater Saimaa. The National Park was established to conserve the valuable natural features of the Finnish lakeland. On the main island there's an old croft. Slash-and-burn agriculture is still practised on its fields to conserve the old cultural landscape and the associated plant and animal species. A large part of the island is natural-state coniferous forest, with some herb-rich parts. The critically endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal inhabits the park.Plan to visit Linnansaari National Park during your Rantasalmi vacation using our convenient Rantasalmi holiday planner .

Access from Rantasalmi or Ovari but only 2-3 times a day by “regular“ ferry, otherwise you have to book a water-taxi yourself (with extra cost of course) : could be improved by Finnish tourist adminis... more »
Ostimme Oravista paketin, johon kuului kanootti, vesitiivistynnyri, pelastusliivit sekä vesitiiviskartta, joka oli kaikkea muuta kuin vesitiivis sekä aitta Linnansaaresta. Melontamatka Linnansaareen o... more »We bought the package, which included Oravi-Porosalmi-Oravi canoeing, vesitiivistynnyri, life jackets, as well as vesitiiviskartta, which was far from waterproof, as well as a granary of the castle of the island. Canoeing trip to linnansaari was utterly fantastic. The island is a great place. Lakeside sauna you should definitely rent a wooden heated sauna, which is always a wooden heated sauna. Uimaankin offers convenient access from the pier. The island's kiosk is outrageously expensive. Your own drinks and snacks that absolutely, otherwise there will be an expensive trip. Kiosk savustetutmuikut are really fair, but outrageously expensive. The island has great patikointireitte and kayak are also stunning scenery. The castle on the mountain is definitely worth climbing!

I went to the island, which has an old growth forest. To get there you will need to take a boat ride from a nearby town called Oravi, which was 19 the round trip per person. There are also other activities offered in that town, as kayaking and some fishing tours. I recommend it, but bring mosquito protection in summer, I hadn't seen such a mosquito concentration since I went to the Everglades!!
Great Park - we went there off-season which gets a little bit expensive since you need a boat to get there. The place itself is really nice and even reveals a bit of the history. You should bring protection against nature's typical insects depending on the season you are there.
Very beautiful place
I didn't mean to.
