Pyhtää is a municipality of Finland.OverviewIt is located in the Kymenlaakso region. The municipality has a population of and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is {{Infobox Finnish Municipality/population densityPyhtää.The medieval church (as opposed to the municipality) is situated in the village of Itäkirkonkylä ("East Church Village"). During the Reformation, the rather beautiful and moving pictures on the walls were whitewashed over. Some years ago, they were rediscovered and the whitewash removed. The village lies just to the East of the westernmost tributary of the Kymi River and was at one time on the border between Russia and Sweden established by the Treaty of Åbo in 1743. Indeed, on the Western side of the river is a municipality called Ruotsinpyhtää ("Swedish Pyhtää") known as Strömfors in Swedish.The municipality is bilingual with speaking Finnish, Swedish and other languages as their first language.

    This church ls located at Pyhtää, maybe short 5km side trip from main highway. The church is unique, because it has survived its life without modifications since 1460s. Only one door has been added...  more »

    In the very good condition, the medieval grey stone church was built 1400 in the Belfry 1800. In this winter scenery. In the summer apparently the church has some events and church holidays. Like Christmas and others There are exhibitions and other ecclesiastical events.
