Repovesi National Park (Finnish: Repoveden kansallispuisto) is situated in the municipalities of Kouvola and Mäntyharju, only a few hours north-east of the more populous Helsinki area of southern Finland. Formerly a site for intensive commercial forestry, the Repovesi area successfully transformed into a pristine national park. Pine and birch trees dominate the park. Repovesi abounds with wildlife including bear, deer and various birds. The River Koukunjoki flows through the park. Other streams and lakes are also situated within the parks boundaries.

Attractions include the Olhavanvuori hill, popular among climbers, and the Kultareitti water taxi route. Also located in the park are the Kuutinlahti bay with its restored timber rafting channels, the Lapinsalmi suspension bridge, and many observation towers.

The common fauna of the park includes the red-throated diver, the Eurasian lynx, the moose, many owls and several galliformes.

  • Absolutely stunning place. Amenities for backpackers are also excellent. Will come back in summer.
  • It's beautiful. Definitely would recommend a visit. We rented a small hut and it was really nice.
  • Being an Australian it was quite beautiful to see, so many lakes, pines and other Forrest, berries everywhere and spectacular views, walking tracks to suit all. Drinking water refill stations along the way, plenty of BBQ firepits for you to cook and rest 🤙🤙🤙
  • Rugged and rocky climbing. Very fresh air. Inspiring place to be and hike in.
  • We did Kaakkurinkierros - route (24 km) in a day what was a challenging, but a pleasant adventure. The route has rather steep ascents and is rather rocky, so a good walking cane can be beneficial. Good hiking shoes are a must. There are a few water replenish points on the way, as well as grilling spots (wood provided) and toilets. Toilets don't have toilet paper or running water. The cable ferry / loss requires some physical strength to handle and gloves would help to handle the cable.
