Kerimaki Church, Kerimaki

With an idea to gather all the townsfolk at once, the Christian community built Kerimaki Church, reputed to be one of the largest wooden objects in the world at one time. Due to its scope and complexity, this project required the participation of every single man aged 15 to 60 at the time of construction in the mid-1800s. Once it was completed in 1847, the structure was so illogically large that authorities investigated the possibility that builders got confused between centimeters and inches, which was disproved. With a capacity to host 5,000 people, this church features remarkably detailed woodwork and lavish galleries, filled with colored lanterns. View its spacious insides and the 37 m (121 ft) tall dome. Concerts and events are often held inside. • A very pretty building, entirely made of wood. The most I liked it not brought electric lighting-everywhere there are candles. You can see the old piece, which was used for heating. The repair I recommend.

  • Wonderful ps: it's the largest wooden church in the world and you don't have to pay to visit it (at least for now); they deserve an offer for this.
  • Largest wooden church in the world. Provides exactly that. It's a church, it's big and it's wooden.
  • Really good place
  • The only Beautiful old church at this quite town
  • And, no doubt, one of the world's suurimmsta of wooden churches in Finland. Really impressive and historic log cabin in a small savolaiskylässä. At different times of the day captured images that highlight the uniqueness of the building.
