Sampo Icebreaker, Kemi

(4.6/5 based on 170 reviews on the web)
Although Sampo Icebreaker began its career as a tourism vessel in the 1980s, it continues to carry out its practical purpose. While the ship transports you along the coast, it breaks up ice in the water so other transport and trade vessels can pass. The ship's main port is Kemi, where it resides during the summer months, but in winter it is mostly on the water giving tours of the Gulf of Bothnia. The tour includes a guided walkthrough of the ship with the chance to explore the vessel's engineering. You'll have the opportunity to take a dip in the freezing water after your guide gives you a rescue suit that will protect you from the cold. Book tickets ahead of time on the attraction's website or purchase cruise tickets from the home port in Kemi. Tour options include a day, brunch, or afternoon tour, each of which takes a few hours.  Make Sampo Icebreaker a part of your Kemi vacation plans using our Kemi itinerary maker.

On the other hand, before this, is lunch in a place very cosy, good menu and then is strolling by the boat before do it floated. If have luck as I, a sunset on the Sea Baltic, scenographic, them will give away the nature seeing a Sun in West on the ice. Beautiful

  • We went to meet him but we didn't know that we would love. It's an icebreaker that was active for 30 years and buy the Kemi City Hall when they began to build much larger freighters and needed larger icebreakers. It was obsolete by size but not by running and they knew it to convert. They told us in the visit that it is the only ice-breaker in the world offering tours of a day. Because there are some more in Russia but they make cruises of several days. The tour includes a guided tour in several languages, we did it in Spanish with an Ecuadorian guide very majete. In addition to see how it breaks ice which is an overwhelming experience, you eat there in the boat. Menu cannot be choose, pair salmon soup all. The drink if like something that not is water is paid separately. To finish have the option of bathing you in the sea ice cream with a costume heat that you leave that supports temperatures of-40 degrees during several hours. Fails nothing cold and you can do it around the world, less children by CCTV. The suit makes you float in the sea. Have the option of exit from the port as the most of the people or also of arrive in moto of snow by the sea to a point where you collects the boat.
