  • In Munkkinniemi, Rihitie, the private house of the famous architect Alvar AALTO Hugues Henrik and his wife second, Elissa Makiniemi, who is also an architect. After the death of Elissa Aalto Foundation has allowed it to be possible to visit the private home of the master as well as the architectural firm, Tillimaki 20, not far from the House. A simple House, full of light, which was the first place of residence and work, after moving to Helsinki. Artek furniture and lamps, designed by the master, grand piano, artwork. A place to visit on tiptoe, in silence and with respect. In small groups, for a fee, upon reservation.

  • When Aalto designed this small house for his young family in the 1930's he wasn't yet so famous and well off, in case you wonder why it is so small and rather crowded. The location is now central Munk...  more »
  • Great tour with insights into Aalto's life and his design ideas. Also visit the studio a short stroll away and go down by the water for a coffee in the cafe there.

  • it's a very interesting museum for those are interested in architecture.
  • It's the best place when you interested in the architecture. It's little far from the central city, but you can go about 25 minutes to get there. And the open time is little uncomfortable, so you must check it before go there.
  • Go to this place if you are a fan of Scandinavian architecture / furniture design. Also go to Aalto Studio which is just a few blocks away.
  • Be sure to queue up a little earlier than the start of the walking tour, it can get crowded, and they only allow 20 people at a time. Cool house, the guide will tell you a little about the history of the house and Aalto family. They accept credit cards. The tour took about 50 minutes.
  • A very interesting view on the most famous Finnish architect.
