  • 1. Demonstrate a good movie (Russian audio track), which allows you to quickly make sense of all the island's history. 2. Interesting patterns on the ground floor: dry dock, mill-sawmill, which allow a better understanding of the technical aspects. 3. Great section on the restoration of the fortress.

  • My friends and i visited together this little Museum in the Centre of Suomenlinna. Would def recommend to all those who are amazed at the Fortress and who want to learn something more about its history (from the 18th century to the present day), on culture and on the local population. The Museum hosts a number of interesting items on various historical periods, including Swedish and Russian Era. Vintage dresses, coins, toys, maps, flags, old newspaper articles and jewelry perfectly preserved. On the ground floor you can also attend a screening of a short film that perfectly sums up everything there is to know about the history of the place. The movie is available in many different languages, including English. Upstairs, in addition to a number of other antiquities (including lanterns and sinks!), you can find an entire area of the museum dedicated to a photography exhibit. The theme of the exhibition is a contemporary of Suomenlinna faces and people who live in this incredible place and who have chosen to live their lives. Games, feasts, traditions, first days of school, rain and Sun, walks by the sea or in the hills. The photographers were skilled at capturing a tinge of Suomenlinna that might go unnoticed under the gaze of mere tourist. But once observed the view, you can only observe the Suomenlinna Islands (and who inhabits) with completely new eyes.
