  • Nice tour to the past culture of Finland. You can come up with your own slogans for Finland which once approved will be set in the public display. 4 story building which is still being expanded to accomodate more. A must visit if you are keen about knowing Finland.
  • Building is beautiful. Don't forget to take a look at the main hall's ceiling. Exhibition is very poor for "The National". Though in absence of anything more serious it is compulsory for those interested in learning more about the Finnish nation.
  • Thorough history of the country, good for tourists to learn a bit more! Nice quiet cafe in the basement
  • We had a bad experience at this museum since we had failed to notice there was an entrance fee to pay. Midways through the exhibitions we were literally dragged out by a security guard who promt us to make a payment. It was all about the money and sadly it was handled in a typical Finnish non friendly manner. You still got much to learn on how to treat people and tourists with respect! and do the ticket control upon entering the exhibitons than no one can miss it and get the false impression its free to enter. Never again.
  • If they spent as much time on making their current history into as nice as of an exhibit as their pre-history,... Then the museum would be better.

Where to stay in Helsinki

Set yourself up with easy access to many of Helsinki's most popular tourist sites by staying in the city's bustling and modern center. You'll find that the area is packed full of shops, restaurants, and bars, plus it's conveniently close to both the city's main train station and energetic waterfront. Though there's certainly a range of options when it comes to big-name hotel chains and upscale accommodation, prices are generally higher throughout most of the center, so consider staying at a hostel to cut down on costs. Hostels typically offer a solid location in or near the city center at a fraction of the cost of a big chain.
