Where to stay in Helsinki

Set yourself up with easy access to many of Helsinki's most popular tourist sites by staying in the city's bustling and modern center. You'll find that the area is packed full of shops, restaurants, and bars, plus it's conveniently close to both the city's main train station and energetic waterfront. Though there's certainly a range of options when it comes to big-name hotel chains and upscale accommodation, prices are generally higher throughout most of the center, so consider staying at a hostel to cut down on costs. Hostels typically offer a solid location in or near the city center at a fraction of the cost of a big chain.

  • I have been to several exhibits & they are generally pretty good. The coat check thing is nice. It is a fun afternoon outing. The facility is a very nice "artsy" building smack dab in the middle of town. Best to park at a distance & take public transportation to downtown
  • If you enjoy modern art, this is the finest Art exhibition space in Helsinki. Unfortunately, tastes are still stuck in the pre-electronic age. A beautiful modern building in it's own right. Loads to experience to get the thought juices flowing.
  • My friend gave only 4 stars. Even if you are not into contemporary art you have to see a building. Its architecture is stunning.
  • The number one place for modern art in Finland. The exhibitions are world-class: they always move me. When I used to live in the northern Finland, I traveled all the way just to see the newest exhibitions in Kiasma. I highly recommend this to everyone.
  • When you tell someone to check out an art gallery there tends to be a sigh... not ART!! But even if you do not 'like' art this place will blow your socks off! It's modern art on steroids! I spent at least 3 hours wandering through the various layers of this place, watching interesting multimedia art pieces and having a gawk at the unique sculpture art. Take my advice and just go!
