4.5/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web
Learn about the life of a military hero and statesman at Mannerheim Museum, once the home of its namesake. Poised on a hill above an upscale residential neighborhood, the museum displays the artifacts of Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, whose precarious childhood led to an interesting life in the military fighting for Russia and later against Russia. His education by experience is reflected in the many objects brought back from distant places as well as the broad range of subject matter represented in his library. The house is in its original state, with furniture and decor from Mannerheim's own collection, while the exhibits display medals and honors he earned. You can also view his extensive book collection and family portraits. Notice Mannerheim's uncomfortable-looking bed, where he kept strict sleeping rituals.
  • Seems not by personal visit, you are prompted for a guided tour. Guide to Finland and English, one doing a tour of Finland and English every hour. Participated in their own time zones was Finland language other than their own, so the English Guide to the shape. Guide me in accented English speaking clear English is fast, but without losing the pronunciation, so anything Japanese sounding I think. I think without confidence in listening to English about Finland's history even a little preparation you hopefully it's just fairly deepens understanding. (No problem in preparation though the listening tour audio guide will) Guide I was eager and felt the strength of Mannerheim love. I learned that was not just a strong military, such as language skills speak 7 languages, in the interests of the Mannerheim.

  • Fascinating museum. Absolutely bizarre character who hoarded a lot of items from his travels across the east. House is much as he left it in the fifties. Was pleased to get an English speaking guide (although I didn't understand a lot of what he said) but the experience was a little short at €10 for one hour. Highly recommend a visit though.
  • Really interesting and nicely guided tour
