  • I approached and saw the skyscrapers on the Hill, so what do you think was the Church. That day visited the funeral is opened from this, said just enough, and we visited the chapel. Was a huge building seen from the outside, but the chapel was readt simple, frills. And Chapel, and this is a high rise building in what seemed to wonder.

  • We visit the open market of Helsinki and when we were going out, the big construction at the end of the avenue called my attention. We walk several streets until we were right there....impressive, spe...  more »
  • Well noticed: I have nothing against art nouveau and certainly not granite as construction material, on the contrary! But the appearance of Kallio Church is solid then it clearly exaggerated. Of Evangelical Lutheran churches, one should expect the eponymous reformer according to a little more modesty. Instead, the 65 metre high tower, which may bring some misguided thoughts, dominates the city and caused attention to distraction from an otherwise reasonably harmonious cityscape. Inside, the Interior of the ship is something more modest. If you however closer looks at the altar, the first impression to the supposed modesty relativized. -No, the Kallio church really isn't that what I imagine as a figurehead for a religion predigende moderation (which it ultimately nor capable of Luther's epidemics).

Where to stay in Helsinki

Set yourself up with easy access to many of Helsinki's most popular tourist sites by staying in the city's bustling and modern center. You'll find that the area is packed full of shops, restaurants, and bars, plus it's conveniently close to both the city's main train station and energetic waterfront. Though there's certainly a range of options when it comes to big-name hotel chains and upscale accommodation, prices are generally higher throughout most of the center, so consider staying at a hostel to cut down on costs. Hostels typically offer a solid location in or near the city center at a fraction of the cost of a big chain.
