One of the oldest parks in the city, Kaivopuisto features hiking trails and vast green lawns, as well as recreational complexes and cafes. Stretching across 45 hectares (111 acres), the park sits between the urban zone and the open sea. As you walk along its numerous paths, you'll encounter art in unexpected places. Some trees contain extremely detailed carved faces, while colorful wooden birds adorn tall poles. As you pause to sit on one of the numerous benches here, notice that each has poem engraved into the surface.
