  • An interesting and comfortable place, with viihdyttiin as well. The place was a real hit with the child, and I am sure at some point, there will be still useful to visit/sometimes. The frills was and felt really well on the ground floor.

  • The City Museum is suitable for hanging around: free, interesting permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions and events, a nice café. The Museum is a children's Museum, where children can explore the variety of the city's history by playing and puuhailemalla. Upstairs, my grandparents are often the spot just right for Grandma and Grandpa, with whom one can talk or, for example, to play an old board game.

  • Very nice place for children! The main exhibition is more entertaining then interesting. I missed more background information, how the city was founded etc. History only from 1890-today.
  • A smallish and quaint museum offers a nice overview of Helsinki of the 20th century. Also helpfull and nice staff. Open also on mondays when most other museums are closed and free admittance!
  • Very perfect place for children. There is an exhibition zone that are really interesting.
  • The museum showcases the streets, people, landscape, the ways of living and architectural evolution of the city over a vast span of time.
  • Nice place, very interesting, only downside is that I would have liked more information. Anyway, the visit was very pleasant

Where to stay in Helsinki

Set yourself up with easy access to many of Helsinki's most popular tourist sites by staying in the city's bustling and modern center. You'll find that the area is packed full of shops, restaurants, and bars, plus it's conveniently close to both the city's main train station and energetic waterfront. Though there's certainly a range of options when it comes to big-name hotel chains and upscale accommodation, prices are generally higher throughout most of the center, so consider staying at a hostel to cut down on costs. Hostels typically offer a solid location in or near the city center at a fraction of the cost of a big chain.
