  • ... Nice, porto, to catch the ferry and where the mercatini...in itself and the Obelisk has not big draw

  • It is believed that this Obelisk monument was the first erected in Helsinki. The occasion for this visit of Emperor Nicholas I and his wife Alexandra. With the assent of the high Emperor architect Engel Obelisk dedicated to the Empress. Special grace in general the model marker attached gold plated double-headed eagle is a symbol of the Russian Empire. When he was knocked to the revolutionary sailors in 1917, it was understandable! But the fact that the Finns are not shy about his past in the outskirts of the giant Empire and retain its attributes-inspires respect!

  • There's actually not much to say about this small Monument located in the center of Helsinki Kauppatori market. Let's face it, if there hadn't been the market nearby and a boat to get to Suomenlinna, probably I wouldn't have even bothered to spend up front to see what it said. In fact, the story linked to this site is quite significant: this is one of the oldest monuments in Helsinki. It was made, in fact, on the occasion of the visit of Tsarina Alexandra to the Finnish capital in 1835. Now partially destroyed during different wars and riots of 1917, was restructured to get finally the aspect that remains even today. I repeat, it is not anything particularly special, but it's still interesting and could be a definite place for stopping to take a picture, or to enjoy the pleasing spectacle of Kauppatori market. If you are visiting with children, moreover, might also be a good reference point where to meet in case of loss.
