  • Very good, but was better a few years ago. Books and magazines in all cathegories in finnish, swedish and english in two floors. Has two cafés.
  • Booklovers can spend hours in this bookshop, even when they don't read any Finnish books. There is a good selection of English, German and French books. Interesting is the interior design and the Aalt...  read more »
  • It is a long-established Department store, Stockmann-owned book stores. Box office very large number have all sorts of books. Design a famous architect and designer Alvar Aalto was due to it. The basement Cafe on the second floor has Office supplies, named Aalto. Speaking at the big bookstore located in the most lively area of Helsinki, in Japan the Tokyo station Yaesu kinokuniya existence?

  • I like this place - not least thanks to the really neat Café Aalto; just walk right through the book store and take the escalator up :)
  • So many books, staff was very helpful in finding what I needed, and the location is great.
  • This place is a joke. An 'academic' bookstore it certainly isn't. It's mostly stocked with cheap paperback thrillers, romance, comics and kids' books. The range on display is dismal. Most of the shelving space is taken by multiple copies. The whole basement floor is basically just a stationary store. The 'humanities' section is just autiobiographies of celebrities and middle-brow history books about WW2. I tried to buy a copy of of Kalevala in Finnish and I finally managed to find it in a drawer under the 'classics' section, which itself only had five books in it! It was such an ugly edition however I gave it a miss.
  • Alvar Aalto designed, iconic bookshop. Bought Oscar Wilde in Finnish for my mum back in Ireland : ) Close by are the main iittala and Finlayson stores...both must-sees and must-shops!
  • Huge bookstore, with Alvar Alto architecture and cafe in the first floor !
