  • What an amazing experience, we predominately went to see the pandas, but the whole zoo experience was fantastic. We arrived when they opened at 10.00, as we wanted to see the pandas before they had.....  more »
  • We visited mid of week. Day was sunny about 20C. Because it was out of top season, zoo was not too crowdy. Bears were very active. Pandas were sleeping so not so much to see. Some of the animals were....  more »
  • We visited park on Tuesday and it was fully packed with families. It was even bit distressing with all the kids and carts people pulled along. Full route is 3 km and people distribute evenly along...  more »
  • Great place to see the wild animals of Finland, and also pandas, if you're so inclined. Lots to see, lots to do, they have little trailers that you can put toddlers in, but you have to provide your own toddler. Bring some sausages and cook them yourself on the little open fires that are provided, I would recommend bringing kindling of some sort, but wood and matches are provided
  • Well run and maintained zoo with happy seeming and well taken care of animals with many surrounding complimenting services. Only taken down a bit with their current obsession on their recent pandas, fortunately you can skip paying the extra charge and avoid the pandas and enjoy the park. Plenty of rest rooms and places to sit while walking around, very family friendly and educational place to visit.
  • Very good smallish zoo, where is roughly 25 enclosures with animals. Couple enclosures contain more species, but most are dedicated to one. Long trail takes least 1,5 hours to walk through if you try to see all animals. But if you take time to admire all species, you could spend over four hours looking at them. There's toilets along the trail and some kiosks for refreshments. Small farm at the end of the trail with domestic animals is for smaller kids. Panda house is quite pricey, but worth it if you plan to look those cuddly bears bit longer than most other animals. Combination ticket recommended (2 days entry to zoo and one-time entry to pandas). Otherwise, average price range for zoo and cafeterias. Souvenir shop has also nice stuff at good prices. Good place to visit.
  • the pandas were interesting. otherwise the zoo was old and in need of refurbishment. the animals slept during the day and were not active. the animals we saw than maybe 60%
  • Ähtäri Zoo was special even if I,don't count the Panda house. The two day tickets are ingenious also! Most enclosures are quite big, the guided shows are informative, the nature around the zoo is lovely. Great that there are bbq spots! I only wish two things were different: one more bathroom and next to the general animal info boards info about the particular specimen: name, age, if they were born here etc. But otherwise a great zoo!
