(4.4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Wander the tall sand dunes at Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, Fiji's first national park since 1989 and a popular recreational attraction for tourists and locals. A guided tour will educate you on the park's ecosystem and surprisingly rich history. Visit an archeological site to witness ancient Lapita artifacts like pottery and one of the largest burial sites in the Pacific. Animal-lovers may want to also visit the dry forest and spend time birdwatching. Take lots of sunscreen, bug repellant, water, and thick-soled shoes to protect your feet from hot sand. • Very cool and worth the trip. Hard to find but just keep driving to the end of the road and you'll see a lift gate. $5 fjd for guests. Bring tennis shoes and socks. Sand is very hot!

  • Plan to spend a whole day here. You start out and it's not too bad to get to the sand dunes but that's when you lose track of time. Playing in the dunes, playing along the beach.. pretty awesome. We were there on a wet, rainy day but that didn't stop the fun.
  • Love visiting this place again and again. Bring plenty of water. Sunblock. The water looks tempting but be cautious about the current. Any part of the day will be windy.
  • I went in 2012 and in spite of rainey conditions it was marvelous-- beautiful, clean and friendly locals!
