  • We travelled to Fiji in September 2016 with a group of 9 hoping to see the beautiful Yasawa Islands. At the end of our wonderful trip we had organised a seaplane transfer to take us back to the mainland. This transfer had been booked five weeks prior to our trip and was a flight we were all looking forward to. Turtle Airways had been successfully in contact with our trip co-ordinator the entire time until we were due to fly. As we were a group of divers we would not be able to fly within a 24hr period after our last dive, knowing this we had arranged a pick up time of 3pm. 40 hours before the flight our co-ordinator contacted Turtle Airways and confirmed this was still the case. Due to the size of our group we had organised two planes for our transfer. At around 8.30 am on the scheduled day of departure a sea plane landed at our resort, the resort staff were informed that the plane that had arrived was ours, we however were either out snorkelling, at breakfast or visiting a local village and unbeknown to us missed one plane. A second plane never arrived. By the time we heard news of this muck-up Turtle were claiming we were informed of a schedule change by way of a phone call to the resort late the evening before (which was not the case) and that having missed the first plane there were no available planes to take us that day. So as a group of 9 stranded on a fully booked island we were left dumbfounded when Turtle Airways refused to offer any sort of refund. Thankfully Pacific Air who offered a fantastic service came to our rescue and returned us to the mainland in order for us to make our next transfer. This however came as an additional cost. My frustration with this situation is as follows: - As a group we have been left out of pocket for a plane that landed at a time six hours prior to our scheduled departure (unknowingly to us) - We spent the majority of a day trying to re-organise an alternative means of transport back to the mainland - Turtle Airways had corresponded with our group co-ordinator for a period of five weeks prior to our flight date including a confirmation 40hours prior, however decided the day before to communicate with our resort instead to inform them of their arrival time, failing to mention that it was a different time to what had originally been scheduled - Turtle Airways were uncooperative and kept coming up with a host of excuses as to why they did not send a plane at the scheduled time I needn’t continue else my frustration will get to me even more. I feel we were honest reasonable people that wanted a great flying experience and to get from a to b, and got everything but. If there was an need to change the scheduled flight time to 9am with enough notice we would have worked around it i.e. not diving the day before however we didn’t even get that opportunity having been informed after the fact. We lost a large chunk of what was meant to be a relaxing holiday and not to mention thousands of dollars. Words cannot express my disappointment with Turtle Airways and I urge anyone considering flying with Turtle Airways to steer clear. They have left a very bad taste in my mouth and have tainted the name of all the beautiful Fijian people we met on our adventure.
