Flea Market Shopping
Shop for dinner ingredients at Nadi Market, a large market selling local fresh fruits and vegetables ranging from bananas to exotic, lesser-known items. Consider purchasing some kava powder to make the drink on your own. When all the food makes you hungry, seek out the restaurants nearby for delicious dishes. Photographs are welcome. Nadi Market is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Nadi Edition.

Where to stay in Nadi

With the majority of visitors to Fiji passing through Nadi, the town caters to every budget and traveler. For maximum convenience, stop in Martintar, which lies right on the (noisy) main bus route. If you want something quieter, more economical, or a little more scenic, consider the affordable, peaceful resorts of Newtown and Wailoaloa beaches--even if the beaches aren't exactly the best Fiji has to offer. Just west of Nadi lie the luxury resorts and private beaches of Denarau Island, where you can stay in comfort and style, as long as you don't mind splashing a bit of cash.

  • Culturally rich, I'd recommend to take a look at the local handcrafted items. Locals are not pushy when you're looking, they just invite you over. Which made me feel comfortable when I chose to not buy anything.
  • You can buy similar things from the pop up markets that come to the resort. But nice for a day out and meeting the locals.
  • Unique Fijian artifacts
  • The vendors are vulturous; they won't give you a moment to browse their wares without thrusting some overpriced trinket in your face, and claiming their village will starve if you don't buy it. I was generous and gave it one star, because if you're stubborn you can haggle—most of the items are mass-produced (they have a warehouse around the corner).
  • Friendly market place for suveniers
