Viðarlundin Park, Torshavn

4.1
#3 of 14 in Parks in Faroe Islands
A bit of green on the otherwise barren Faroes, Viðarlundin Park provides a perfect spot to break from sightseeing. Besides the many flowerbeds with species from all over the world, the park houses statues of notable local figures. Sit on one of the benches near the pond or explore the charming arboretum. Stop in the art gallery on site, which showcases works by the country's contemporary and classical artists. • Reached from the Centre of Tórshavn to park on the street Varðagøta. The Park is notable for various sculptures and trees, which is a rarity for the Faroe Islands. Fish swims in streams, many ducks. Not far from the entrance in a clearing among massive boulders is the statue of the mythical female Pixie Tariry, the heroine of one of the works of local writer William Hajnesena. In the middle of the Park installed a monument in memory of the Faroese seamen who died during the second world war. Next to the Park is Listasavn Føroya Art Museum and Gallery Listaskalin, there is a coffee shop. Nordic House is also located nearby.

  • A walk in this park may be said to belong to visit in Torshavn. Here you will find the Art Museum, the Memorial for the dead sailors under the age of 2. World War II and William Habi Elf girl Tarira. In addition, there are other works of art in the Park. In the middle of the Park, a small pond with benches for a respite.

  • A small but nice park to dilly-dally in. Ducks to be fed.
  • Central Park in Tórshavn nice place In the city
  • It's nice to get an arboreal fix after being in the rest of the island. The ponds could do with a clean, but apparently it was a real feat to even get trees established here
  • WTF!!! Why are they slaughtering whales??????? There is no justification for these photos !!!!!!!!! This is abominable!!!!!
  • amazing place

Where to stay in Streymoy

Although small villages usually have some available rooms with commendable service, the island's capital--Torshavn--offers the most options, ranging from 4-star hotels to guesthouses and lodges. Most hotels are situated in the city center near the harbor, but you can also find comfortable rooms on the town's western outskirts. Some parts of the island offer good camping sites, decent alternatives for adventurous outdoorsy types.
