  • The views are incredible from here, the Lighthouse is at the end of a thin spit of land that juts into the sea as stretching in an attempt to reach the distant Iceland and Greenland

  • Suggest you to take the helicopter from the airport (buy tickets through internet) to reach Mykines, scroll around and start to hike. My husband and I cannot reach the lighthouse as we both scared of ...  more »
  • Well, more than the lighthouse, I would like to talk about the hike up to his lighthouse. You start your hike from the only harbor on the Mykines island. You have to pay a certain amount of hiking fee...  more »

  • I have to say, the hike is difficult for most, but it is very fun and unique to see all the birds and sheep. Seeing all the puffins was especially heart warming, and enjoying the cold wind as you have a snack is most satisfactory. I love the climate, but make sure you wear proper hiking gear and take the different paths to really enjoy it!
  • The walk to the lighthouse is quite beautiful. Along the path there are lots and lots of puffins that you can get pretty close to (2m perhaps) before they fly away. From the village it took us about one and a half hours to get there, and just one hour to return (since we weren't stopping to take snaps of the adorable puffins). Right by the lighthouse there is a spot of land which provides a panoramic view of the sea. However, I would say it is the walk to the lighthouse rather than the lighthouse itself that makes the trip to Mykines very special and worthwhile.
  • Ferry to the island was without problem. Puffins everywhere and other birds causing an amazing experience! At the end ,the ocean was wild not allowing the ferry into the harbour, then making a second attempt in about 5 hours later because visitors had flights the following day. 5 hours went by comfortably in a coffee shop with kind people staying past their work hours. The tour guide helped plan and called ferry companies to have visitors prepared. Earlier than expected a professional captain quickly boarded and steadily controlled us safely through a rocky and wild harbour. Overall, the tour guide was very helpful and tried to solve all inconveniences and it was a great experience! The tour guide was from Heimdal Tours.
  • Fantastic island with great views and a lot of birds and puffins on the way to the lighthouse. Nice place to relax after the two hour hike from the little village. Beware of the bird excrements raining from the sky. ;-)
  • Fantastic place on the amazing Mykines island. Great place for spotting birds especially puffins while you hike from the village (port) towards the lighthouse. The boat trip can be an adventure as the waves are often high but it is definitely worth the effort
