Christianskirkjan, Klaksvik

4.6
#1 of 7 in Things to do in Bordhoy
Considered one of the most striking buildings in the whole country, Christianskirkjan represents both a modern architectural achievement and a favorite religious site for the worshipers. The idea behind the construction was to create a landmark that would reflect the culture and history of the country. As a result, it was built out of natural basalt and wood, and topped with the traditional sod roof typical for Scandinavian buildings. Inside, you'll see a Faroese boat hanging from the ceiling, a celebrated altarpiece dating from 1901, a rose window designed by Ulrikke Marseen, and a number of other decorations and icons of carved wood. • Pretty nice modern church from the sixties. The Bell Tower is built for it as you can see it in Northern Jutland. Where is it sad that it is open for visitors from 15. May to 15. September. I mean, when now they want winter tourists up here, so it ain't work would welcome if the attractions also were open!

  • In Klaksvike not so many attractions, so visit this church, not only to hide from the wind. But especially for its sake in Klaksvík ride isn't worth it.

  • H: Quick questions: How did you get a Château room in your freshman year? Wasn’t Tom Bright temporarily your roommate?  P: Tom Bright. I don't know. I was in one of the freshman dorms initially. Alex how did this happen? I think I made a special request. You know I come from a line of people who routinely ask for the supervisor. There's a Galen in Gibbon. He appears to be a source. "Where the physicians of Rome since the time of Galen..." H: Galen of Pergamon – the father of anatomy and physiology. The character in Planet of the Apes (my first exposure to the name) was named after him. Tom mentioned that he had been but you were up all night with Chinese flashcards. He ended up in your old turret room during your senior year with Scott Gallaher who married (quasi eloped with) Catherine, the Directrice of the Chateau. P: What about da Vinci? If I believed everything you said I'd also have to admit that you know more about my life then I do. As I dispute this, naturally I assume you are again practicing the art of dissimulation. Which I think is what you were doing when we first met, though that story line escapes me. H: With a few notable exceptions - short periods of intense emotional trauma the recall of which is infested with treacherous lacunae - my memory is still pretty good. But then I would say that, wouldn’t I? P: Lacunae. Lacunae, lacunae. No one but you could get away with using that word.
