What is Inspirock?
Inspirock is a free online trip planner that can help you build a personalized sightseeing itinerary for your vacation. Inspirock collects and maintains detailed data on millions of attractions and destinations from across the web. It uses state of the art patent-pending technology to evaluate trillions of logistical possibilities to create a personalized itinerary that best fits your specific needs. The itinerary takes into account factors such as open-close hours, travel time, seasonality, and many more. Our recommendations are unbiased and can save you hours of tedious research and result in a better plan.
To plan with Inspirock, you just tell it where you’re going, dates you are there, and sightseeing preferences. Within seconds, it will give you a detailed sightseeing itinerary. It provides a complete set of tools and recommendations so you can research the destination and make any desired changes to the itinerary. You can add co-travelers so they can be involved in the planning together or just stay informed. If you want to ask your trusted friends for advice on the itinerary, you can do so. Once you have settled on the itinerary and made your bookings, you can take it with you on the trip.

Which destinations does Inspirock cover?
You can currently choose from more than 11,000 destinations in the United States and Europe. This lets you find great things to do as easily in smaller locales like Ravenna, Italy, as in world-famous cities like Rome. This lets you build a plan for anywhere in the United States or Europe you want to go. And if you're not sure exactly where you'd like to travel to, our planner can determine which places, from hidden gems like Ravenna, Italy to world-famous cities like Rome, best suit you.
We're always adding more countries and cities within countries we already cover. If you want us to add a particular country, let us know.
I'm not sure where to go. Can Inspirock help?
Sure! Based on the types of attractions you like and the general ages of the people traveling with you, Inspirock can automatically select destinations. You can also create multiple plans to compare before settling on one. For example, if you're trying to decide between Italy or Spain, you can build plans for each and decide which one you like best. If you need more help, you can use our collaboration features to ask your friends for advice on your plans.
How do I change the destinations in my plan?
Click on the ‘Route’ tab on the top navigation bar and expand the My Route section. Here, you have the option to adjust the time spent in each destination, delete destinations, and change the order you visit destinations. To add destinations, use the search bar or click on one of the suggested destinations at the bottom of the page.
How do I change the attractions in my plan?
Click on the ‘Day by day’ tab on the top navigation bar to see your plan and then the Calendar button to view your schedule. You can delete attraction time blocks and either click on an empty time slot or the + Add Item button to add an attraction or custom activity. For ideas on what else to see and do, click on the Explore tab on the top navigation bar.
How do I adjust the duration I spend at an attraction?
In Calendar view on the ‘Day by day’ page, hover your mouse over the bottom border of the attraction's time block and then click and drag the border up or down to adjust the duration of your visit.
If changes create conflicts that are challenging to resolve, simply click the Optimize button to let Inspirock find the best way to fit your plan together.
How do I change my preferences after I've created a plan?
You can change preferences by clicking on the Settings icon on the far right of the top navigation bar. Indicate the time you prefer to start and finish your daily sightseeing, the pace you like to travel at, and whether distances appear in miles or kilometers. If you change your start/finish times and travel pace, Inspirock will optimize your plan to match your preferences.
You don't have to start and finish your sightseeing at the same time every day—in the Calendar view, you can change your schedule for specific days.
To change other preferences, such as your travel style, click + New Plan and build a new plan with your desired preferences.
Why should I create an account?
If you have an account, Inspirock automatically saves any plan you create while logged in. You can then access your plans from other computers and mobile devices. When you're signed in, you can also collaborate on your plans with others.
I'm traveling with others—can we share and edit the same plan?
After creating a plan, add co-travelers to it via the Share icon on the top navigation bar. Specify the name and email of each co-traveler. Each person will receive notification of your invitation to see and edit the plan.
Whenever a co-traveler adjusts the plan, you can see the changes by clicking on the Notifications icon on the top navigation bar.
To remove a co-traveler, click on the Share icon on the top navigation bar, select Manage Co-Travelers, and click the X button.
Can I show my plan to friends and family?
You can share plans via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, or email. Click the arrow on the right side of the navigation bar and choose the platform—social media or email—that you want to share your plan on.
How do I book accommodations through Inspirock?
On the Where to Stay page, accessible from the top navigation bar, Inspirock describes neighborhoods where you can stay for each destination on your itinerary. We automatically enter dates from your plan into the search form, but you can adjust them. Click the Find a Hotel button to see available accommodations. A new window will display the listings. You can sort listings by recommendation, price, number of stars, distance from downtown, and rating. You can filter by neighborhood, property type, amenities, and more.
Select an accommodation listing to view more details about it, and click on a Reserve button within the listing to make your booking.
I want to start my sightseeing earlier/later than the default time. How do I change this?
Click on the settings icon on the navigation bar and select the time you prefer to start your day at. (Note that your sightseeing will start at least a half-hour after the time you select in order to give you time to reach the day's first activity.) Save your selection and we'll automatically update your plan.
How do I start some days at a different time?
Go to the Calendar view. If your days usually start at 10 a.m. and you want to begin a day at 9:30 a.m., click on the 9-9:30 a.m. time block, select Just block time on calendar, and click the +Add button. Next, click Optimize. Your sightseeing for that day will now start at 9:30 a.m., immediately following the time you blocked on the calendar.
If you want to see a specific attraction earlier than your sightseeing schedule typically begins, click the time block on the calendar, select Add an activity by name, and search for the attraction by name. Add it to the calendar and then adjust the duration of your visit if you’d like. Click Optimize to revise your plan around the activity you've added.
What if I want to do something, such as visit an attraction or meet a friend, at a particular time?
Add it to your itinerary in Calendar view. Click an empty time block on the schedule. In the window that appears, choose Add an activity by name to add an attraction, like a museum visit, or Just block time on the calendar to add a custom activity, like meeting a friend. You'll also see options to adjust how long you plan to stay at an attraction or the duration of a custom activity.
What if my flight lands in the middle of the day or I have only a partial day available for sightseeing?
If you cannot visit attractions during a specific time, you can block that time off on your calendar by adding a custom activity. Click on an empty time slot or the +Add Item button to add a custom activity, like a flight or meeting.
How do I get information about public transportation?
We create your initial plan assuming you're using a car, but you can use any type transportation. For other options between attractions, click on the Maps tab on your plan. Click on the estimated driving time between two attractions to bring up Google Maps, where you can see available transportation options.
For traveling between destinations, click the ‘Route’ tab and then the Travel Options button between two destinations. This will show you the different modes of transportation available, including different routes and price ranges.
I deleted an attraction or moved things so there is free time in my day. How do I fill them?
In the List view of your plan, Inspirock will notify you when there's free time you can fill with sightseeing. Click on the notification message to see a list of attractions you can add. You can leave the new attraction in that time slot, but pressing the Optimize button will rearrange your itinerary to remove conflicts or reduce your travel time between attractions if possible.
You can also fill gaps in Calendar view, which offers an easy-to-manage overview of your plan. If you want to fill free time there, click the open space and choose Add an Activity by Name. Search for the attraction you want to add, select it, and choose the duration you'll spend there. Pressing the Optimize button will rearrange your itinerary to remove conflicts or reduce your travel time between attractions if possible.
After adding attractions and making changes to others, my plan is messed up. Is there an easy way to fix it?
There is! Pressing the Optimize button—located in both the calendar and list views of your itinerary—resets your plan so that everything fits together neatly. You might find new attractions in it, which you can keep or change.
How does Inspirock make money?
To keep our suggestions unbiased, we do not accept payment for placing destinations or attractions on plans. Instead, we earn a commission if you decide to book trip components, such as hotels, transportation, and tickets, through Inspirock. Commissions don't affect the prices you pay—they remain the same whether you purchase on our site or on our booking partners'.
