Mount Longdon, Stanley

(4.6/5 based on 25 reviews on the web)
Mount Longdon provided the setting for a dramatic battle between British and Argentine forces in 1982. Explore the area to find old cannon and bunkers from the war, or climb to top of the mountain to soak in magnificent views of the surrounding scenery. The cold weather and severe wind remind visitors of the difficult conditions soldiers faced during the two-day battle. • A place obliged to all visitors that seeks answers about the conflict armed of the 82. It was the scene where the most fierce combat between the troops of RI 7 on the Argentine side, and for 2 by the British side was fought. Ideal for the lovers of the trekking, and a good support with specific bibliographical reading.

  • Place where the final battles of 1982 were spared. Even you can see remains of that time. It is a must-see to close the story. It advisable is hiring a guide that knows tell the events. Us find with a Chilean based in the island, Fernando Cordero, to which hired for them excursions, which us guided fantastic, responsible and friendly.
