#4 of 7 in Historic Sites in Lalibela
Meet the one priest who lives and serves at Monastery of Na’akuto La’ab--a dwelling tucked away in a massive cave. Talk about the monastery's history, and peruse the old artifacts and manuscripts. Tour the small site to see centuries-old hand-painted frescoes, and collect holy water dripping down the side of the cave. Afterwards, climb the cliff that covers the monastery and enjoy a spectacular view of the open landscape. Wear proper footwear since the hiking trail can be slippery and difficult to maneuver. • It is built on a rock. It must be quite a few stairs to the entrance but it is worth. • A simple Church (the cave) which is simply on the ride by the or can visit the Lalibela airport. If you have time available worth a visit this place which is known for its holy water. It is not as spectacular as other churches but a nice completion or beginning to the Lalibela travel.

  • On the outskirts of Lalibela I recommend to visit this beautiful monastery built on a rock. It must be quite a few stairs to the entrance but it is worth. It is famed for the baptismal font, which are filled with water that falls into the own enclosure from the mountain. Before there are many souvenir stalls. There gets you a priest masquerading with a special ceremony attire and Crown to explain objects that are there. There are also paintings and tapestries with enough colorful. Care with carpets that are quite dirty and have shoes at the entrance to recommend to carry a second pair of socks to change into.
