At Ngwenya Glass, you can observe skilled glassblowers using recycled glass to create animal figurines and dishware with African themes. The factory started out as a Swedish aid project that attempted to motivate unemployed young people by getting them interested in the art of glass blowing. Today, the business is owned by an unusual group of entrepreneurs--a farmer, an ex-librarian and a marine engineer. Amenities include a cafe, a chocolate shop, and a kids’ play area in the garden. A visit to Ngwenya Glass represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Ngwenya online vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • This glass works, I think is well worth a visit. On the other hand, one can make study visits in a real Glass Studio, incredibly hot, and see when the workers manufacture glass. On the other hand, one can visit the glass store and buy all kinds of glass, pendants, glasdjur and more. There are also tables that sit at the outside and eat food or feed the peacocks. There is also a chocolate/ice cream and pralinbutik and a souvenir shop. Cheerful and helpful staff. The glassworks buys into glass bottles etc and recycle glass.

  • Nice place. Ordered their chicken curry and was disappointed with the portion size. No correlation. The order time was also long. The Manager I presume greeted all the other tables except for ours whi...  more »
  • We saw a nice shop with a large number of different glasses. We had the chance to see the workers to work, but too bad not being able to be closer to them. An exhibition that is worth a visit

  • Wonderful stuff from Ngwenya Glass Factory. We've bought many things here and often bringing visitors who love to see all the unique things they make. Visiting on a week day (if possible) is especially fun as you can see the employees making things from glass. There are also other craft shops here that are worth checking out, and a cafe that is surprisingly good.
  • A must-see Swazi attraction. Support our amazing recycling industries!
  • Always a great stop for quality art glass work with a drink & snack.
  • A must see for locals and tourists: Watch the workmen melting recycled glass in a furnace and making glasses, animals and other glass ornaments from red hot glass bubbles. There is a balcony area above the factory where you can observe the works process for free. Definitely on of the most interesting stops of our tour. Glass ornaments and manufactured products are available in the shop.
  • Awesome stop at our stay in Swaziland.
