Tartu Old City, Tartu
(4.5/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
With winding streets and a host of neoclassical buildings, Tartu Old City serves as a cultural and spiritual hub. Though much of the medieval old town was destroyed in a late 18th-century fire, you'll find the area has rejuvenated in the centuries since. Explore the many churches, squares, and corridors. Stop by the Town Hall and St. John's Church, two of the surviving medieval buildings that harken back to Tartu's highly respected position in old Estonia. After wandering for a while, stop in one of the many cafes along the streets to relax and people-watch over a cup of coffee. • Tartu visited after Tallinn, so special impressions are not produced. But there is zest. After the city bustle, it was nice to walk quietly through the narrow streets and alleys. The compact old town, an hour you can bypass all streets

  • and rich in life this charming downtown full of beautiful buildings, premises and monuments not to be missed. Deserves a ride that, starting from the General market (with the curious statue of maiale9 goes all the way to the Hill, in the City Park, to visit the University Museum on whose ticket includes a climb in what remains of the old cathedral and the various pedestrian streets

  • Most of the carefully preserved, as a matter of fact, many are restored in accordance with the majority and been converted into a Museum, Tartu University campus for intensive culture and tourism to fall within activities as a historical part of the city of a typical northern Europe. From time to time due to its proximity to the University students organized fun activities you can watch or join in. Most of the traffic you can visit on foot easily for free, when you can relax in the typical European style Café in the square and souvenir shop you can shop from. Tartuya interested in finds herself there. And must be visited.
