Garden Nature / Park
Stroll through and soak up the beauties of nature at Botanical Garden of the University of Tartu. The landscaped grounds and greenhouses were designed to recreate the natural habitats of various plants, so you can see species native to the frosty Siberian taiga not far from those you'd encounter in the tropical jungles of South America. Take a walk down the series of pathways surrounded by greenery, pause to rest on a bench, or admire the sculptures that dot the grounds. Kids can have fun at the playground and feed fish in the pond. Admission is only required for the greenhouses; visiting the outdoor areas of the garden is free. A visit to Botanical Garden of the University of Tartu represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Tartu itinerary maker to plot your vacation.

  • Beautiful oasis in the middle on Tartu. Most beautiful in the spring when everything is starting to bloom and go green. One of the best places just to walk and enjoy the beautiful weather. You can also have a picnic or play with children on the grass and playground area on the other side of the park.
  • Great place for walking, a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers and trees. There's a wonderful pond with fish and ducks. Inside there are palms and cactuses. There are also some turtles, they are really cute.
  • A really nice surprice which I found when walking by the river. Worth to concentrate on the tropical atmosphere.
  • Beautiful environment in the summer. Take pictures and enjoy the cleanest air.
  • It's a sweet little botanical garden with a solid collection of plants. Quite well maintained (2016). Inside the greenhouse there's even an elevator to the upper level so that persons having trouble climbing stairs can still visit. In Summer 2016 we paid 3 € to enter the greenhouse, it's worth it. Park around it is lovely and free.
