Viru Gates, Tallinn

4.3
Step right into the heart of Tallinn's urban center and access the city's historical sights from Viru Gates. The square connects all of the city's major roads and main public transportation lines, and it's a gateway to the old town. Throughout history the square was the city's main gathering place and the center of activity. Reconstruction at the beginning of the 20th century transformed the area into a transportation and shopping hub. Apart from visiting an array of stores, you can stop by a bar or restaurant for refreshment or a fine meal. Browse the surrounding area for a selection of souvenirs and be sure to visit some of the flower shops that the neighborhood is famous for. • Door located north of the city. It is the most attractive entry. Place bound with huge medieval flavor. There are flowers on the street selling, which gives it a special charm

  • Very nice gate between the newer and older sections of the city. (Here is where the tourist trap begins.) It is worthy to note that in less than a square kilometer, Tallinn has the newest of buildings and midieval buildings and everything in between. It is quite an amazing place. This gate is a symbol of this diversity.
  • Really good meeting point if you want to go out in the old town.
  • Well maintained gateway to Old Town. Gives you a sense of the history of Tallinn. Stalls are setup to buy fresh flowers.
  • Beautiful place. Historical. Nice atmosphere
  • Beautiful entrance to the Old Town. Macdonalds, Hesburger and flower market nearby.
