  • With regard to the dungeons, attention: visits must be booked in advance as there lead only with a guide. On the floors of the tower are permanent expositions, at the very top of the Café and a wonderful view from the window

  • This tower is located towards the end of Epping Tower - which is on the north side of the Old city. Tourist could walk on top of the wall which is linked to this tower.  more »
  • Originally Nejtsitorn (Estonian name) called Megdheturm in honor of whether Captain towers, whether a construction contractor fortifications by the name Megdhe. Over time, all already forgotten why so called Tower and it was renamed as close sounding, but otherwise the meaning of-Maegdeturm that from German means "Tower of virgins". Two legends title explain differently. One bridge were virgins who lived here. For the opposite-the Tower concluded prostitutes, women accused of adultery and girls who refused to marry the boys, where they picked up the parents. You can say, prisoners of conscience. However, the opposite of the meaning of the legend can be simultaneously true. Something had to deal with the above categories of girls and women, why not descent? Then the Tower partially destroyed the artillery of Ivan the terrible, which during the Livonian war and was unable to take Off. The ruined Tower until the end of the restored only during the Soviet era. More than a century to 1960 she was living and workshop was known Estonian artists-brat'e Raudov. For the Olympics-80 (in the Tallinn sailing regatta took place Pyrite) Tower made a tourist attraction and repaired Windows and from the side, the Danish King's Garden, so you can drink a cup of coffee with a view of the city. So Virgin now there only in this form. Well, maybe even with a glass of mulled wine.
